Important study on fossil pachyderms with the description and illustration of new species and new specimens of species already known with implications on their phylogeny. George Louis Duvernoy (1777-1855) was Georges Cuvier's assistant and this work was published on behalf of their employer, the Muséum d'Histoire naturelle in Paris as part of the Muséum's Archives, volume 7. As usual with publications on fossils, the plates are not coloured. A very good, clean copy with wide margins. Rare. Nissen ZBI, 4560.
