Important study on fossil pachyderms with the description and illustration of new species and new specimens of species already known with implications on their phylogeny. George Louis Duvernoy (1777-1855) was Georges Cuvier's assistant and this work was published on behalf of their employer, the Muséum d'Histoire naturelle in Paris as part of the Muséum's Archives, volume 7.
