Barrois, T. [C.]
Catalogue des crustacés marins, recueillis aux Açores durant les mois d'Août et Septembre 1887.
Lille, Le Bigot, 1888. 8vo (23.6 x 15.8 cm). 110 pp.; four lithgraphed plates (three sepia, one in chromolithography). Contemporary quarter cloth over marbled boards. Gilt title on the spine.
Rare work - especially when in a contemporary binding -, privately published by Théodore Charles Barrois (1857-1920), and preceding most of the works on the same groups and the same area in the Museum of Monaco series. Bound in of the same author are (1) Note sur le Palaemonetes varians Leach, suivie de quelques considérations sur la distribution géographique de ce crustacé, with 16 pp., and one chromolithographed plate (1886), and (2) Remarques sur le dimorphisme sexuel, chez quelques amphipodes du genre Moera (M. scissimana Costa = M. integrimana Heller. M. grossimana Montagu = M. donatoi Heller), 2 pp. (1888). The latter two publications as separately paginated offprints from the Bulletin de la Société de France. Both the larger papers signed by the author, and dedicated to "Dr. Sauvage", most probably the French zoologist and palaeontologist Henri-Émile Sauvage, (1842-1917). Title page age-toned, plate of second paper a bit spotted, otherwise very good. Neither in Cat. BM(NH) nor in Nissen.
