Rigg, J.
A Dictionary of the Sunda Language of Java.

The first and still only Sundanese - English dictionary published. The author, Jonathan Rigg (1809-1871), was a British trader, amateur geologist, historian and lexicographer. This is his magnum opus. Sundanese is the principal language of the western half of Java. The translations of the Sundanese words often have an encyclopaedic character. Published in the society's Verhandelingen, being the complete Volume XXIX. Uncut. Old stamp on front board, first journal title, and title page; spine cover ends abraded, book block broken, boards a bit soiled and detached, but otherwise in very good condition, all leaves clean. Partly printed on bleu paper. Uncommon.
