A series of mainly morphological, ontological and phylogenetical monographs by several leading scientists in their group. For instance, with detailed and well-illustrated contributions by Adolf Naef on general molluscan morphology, and H. F. Nierstrasz on Amphineura (Polyplacophora) in two parts, and on parasitic gastropods. Also an early paper by Valentin Häcker on the function of chromosomes, Die Chromosomen als angenommene Vererbungsträger, with 43 text figures. Several papers are written in English.
