Gallo, E. da Osimo [countess]
Venezia Tridentina. [Woodcut print].
[Florence], Giulio Giannini e Figlio, ca. 1950. Broadsheet (poster) (71.8 x 50.3 cm). Printed on one side in red and blue.
This rare poster is the work of the Italian artist, countess Eleonora Gallo da Osimo (1885-1966). In 1929, Giannini started to collaborate with countess Eleonora to create woodcuts with decorative motifs that were part of a popular Italian tradition. This included a series of regional images, this one representing Venice. The publisher, Giulio Giannini and sons, was founded in 1856 and still exists today. Four pinpoint holes in the margins, some very light, marginal creasing, otherwise fine.
