The British Carboniferous Crinoidea. Volumes I-II [FULL COMPLETE SET in ten original parts].
London, The Palaeontographical Society, 1950-1960. Two volumes in ten. 4to (27.8 x 21.7 cm). xxx, 347 pp.; 83 plates. Uniform original blue/grey wrappers with printed paper label on front wrappers.
A massive work with detailed descriptions and fine illustrations of Palaeozoic sea lilies, written by the Scottish geologist and palaeontologist James Wright (1878-1957). The Monograph of the British Carboniferous Crinoidea was published in two volumes with 83 plates (I-LXXXI, A, B). It consists of the Series Parts 448, 451, 454, 458, 462, 467, 471, 474, 479, and 488. Note that these are the separately published parts in their original wrappers, not disbound extracts from the also published yearly volumes with mixed content, which is often the case. All parts are originals, not the Johnson reprints. Provenance: two issues with a stamp of the Royal Society of London to the bottom of the front wrapper. One issue with former owners name "D. V. Ager" and dated 1951 on first blank. Otherwise, very good and clean copies, rare in this state and completeness.
