A rare treatise on early cave-dwelling humans, or Cro-Magnons, discovered in a cave near Menton, Côte d'Azur. Written by the French anthropologist (chiefly palaeoanthropologist, interested in Cro-Magnon) René Verneau (1852-1938). Inscribed and dated in the top margin of the front wrapper and title page; a few pencil marks and an annotation in ink on the blank rear wrapper verso; repair to spine foot, short, marginal tear in pp. 6-7; otherwise good.
