A rarely seen, well-illustrated monograph with fine plates of pangolins, aardvarks, and anteaters, as well as plates showing their anatomy, skeletons, skulls, etc. The author, Wilhelm [von] Rapp (1794-1868) was a German medical doctor, anatomist and zoologist. The first edition was published in 1843 and had only nine plates. Uncut, wide-margined. Tissue-guards and plain plates a bit spotted, however, the coloured plates without spots, only very lightly toned Wrapper edges a bit frayed, old repair to rear wrapper and spine, otherwise a very good, unmarked copy.
