[Scissor Art - Scherenschnitt] Gützlaff, L.
Rosethorn with her prince, Little Rosethorn gathering flowers, and Rosethorn at her spinning wheel. [after Lotte Gützlaff].
[Berlin], ca. 1920. Three fine, detailed, black paper cutouts, each mounted on a blank cardboard (each 28.6 x 21.0 cm).
The scenes depict the Grimm brothers' fairy tale Little Rosethorn. The style shows some Jugendstil influence, but these silhouettes are known to be designed by the German Scherenschitt artist Lotte Gützlaff (1892-1951; active in Berlin, ca. 1910-1930), whose work is much admired. Apart from a few, tiny defects (e.g., a tiny paper flaw in the white leaf's middle left of the Rosethorn at her spinning wheel, and a miniscule flaw in the black paper of Little Rosethorn gathering flowers) a very well-preserved, attractive set with all in near mint condition.
