Bucaresti, Academiae Reipublicae Popularis Romanicae, 1952-1956. Four volumes in four. Large 8vo (23.5 x 17.0 cm). Eight title pages (two in each volume); 3029 pp. [(1952): xlviii, 659; II(1953): 702; III(1955): 662; IV(1956): 958]; and 472 plates [96;108;104;164]. Uniform blind-stamped blue cloth with silver title on the spines and front boards.

The seldom-seen start of the most important, very well-illustrated botanical work on the flora of Romania. Published over several years and seldom found complete. Even individual parts are quite uncommon if not rare. Many new taxa are introduced. The illustrations are excellent. The chief editor, Traian Săvulescu (1889-1963) was a Romanian botanist, mycologist and phytopathologist, and founder of the Romanian school of phytopathology. Further parts (up to Volume 11 in 1965) were published. Some light shelf-wear; label on spine feet; stamp on each second title verso; otherwise a very good, clean set. Stafleu and Cowan list several of Săvulescu's works - up to 1957 - but not this series. Rare.
