Edinburgh, W. H. Lizars, 1833. 8vo-size (16.5 x 10.5 cm). Engraved by Lizars. Disbound.

This engraving, made for William Jardine's ' Naturalist's Library', shows Linnaeus when he was 25 years old, dressed in his Lapland costume. Beneath the portrait is a facsimile of Linnaeus's autograph. The artist was Jardine's brother-in-law, the Scottish engraver and publisher William Home Lizars (1788-1859). It was published as frontispiece to ornithology volume VI of the Naturalist's Library series, being the first volume on hummingbirds, but including a memoir of Linnaeus. Some very light spotting, otherwise a very good copy. Soulsby, 3186.
