Heynsius, A.
Onderzoekingen gedaan in het Physiologisch Laboratorium der Leidsche Hoogeschool. Parts I-III.
Leiden, S. C. Van Doesburgh, 1869-1874. 8vo (22.3 x 14.7 cm). 629 [(v), 175; (ii), 227; (ii), 218] pp.; three nice lithographed title vignettes (tissue guarded) showing the Leiden laboratory and six lithographed plates. Contemporary pebbled cloth over marbled boards. Gilt lines and title on the spine. Patterned endpapers.
A surprisingly rare and interesting collection of papers based on physiological research in the institution's physiological and biochemical laboratories, as well as detailed information on the building and some of the scientific equipment. Most contributions are by the Dutch biochemist and medical doctor Adriaan Heynsius (1831-1885) himself. This is probably all that has been published. Stamp on first title page, some light spotting, mainly to the index page of the third part, but nearly all pages clean. Binding neat and tight. In all, in fine condition. Not in Cat.
