Dublin The University Press, 1873. 8vo (21.5 x 13.9 cm). 146 pp.; lithographaphed frontispiece plate. Slightly later green buckram; spine with calf label with gilt title.

An important work by the Scottish-Irish botanist David Moore (1808-1879). It includes keys to the species and extensive notes on localities and habitats, and references. This is the rare offprint from the Proceedings of the Royal Irish Academy, with new pagination and title, and a handwritten dedication by the author in the top margin of the title page. The decicatee is "Ch. Martins", probably the professor of natural history and director of the botanical garden in Montpellier, France, Charles Frédéric Martins (1806-1889). Small label of a Parisian bookbinder on the rear pastedown. Plate and title lightly spotted, otherwise an excellent, clean copy. Stafleu and Cowan 6271.
