Gryphiswaldis, Ernesti Mauritii. 1828. Two volumes in two. 8vo (20.0 x 11.9 cm; 20.9 x 13 cm). 392 [238, 154] pp. Near uniform contemporary green boards with hand-written paper labels on the spines.

The Systema fungorum by the Swedish botanist and mycologist Elias Magnus Fries (1794- 1878) is the starting point for the official nomenclature of fungi. These are the first supplements. Very rare. Uncut and therefore slightly different in size, volume II being somewhat larger. Boards a bit worn especially at the edges, old private owner's stamp of the Swedish mycologist Lars Romell (1854-1927) on the title pages, otherwise a very good set. Stafleu and Cowan, 1867, 1870; Volbracht, 638.
