Calcutta, Office of the Geological Survey, 1908. Folio (34.0 x 26.8 cm). 183 pp., 20 plates after T. Brock. Dark green pebbled cloth. Gilt title on the spine. Speckled edges. Original printed wrappers bound in.
An uncommon publication by the British palaeontologist Fredrick Richard Cowper Reed (1869-1945). Bound copies, such as this one, are very uncommon, if not rare. Published in the series, Palaeontographica Indica, being the complete New Series, Volume II(5). It includes descriptions and illustrations of new and poorly known invertebrates, in particular brachiopods, but also many bivalves, gastropods, trilobites, corals, etc. Inscribed "from the author" on both wrappers. Library label on front pastedown; tiny stamp on the wrappers, title, a few other leaves, and on plate versos (not shining through). Otherwise very good, complete. Nissen ZBI, 3328.
