A fine, large portrait of the Czech geologist and palaeontologist Viktor Karl Uhlig (1857-1911). He wrote many important monographs on the geology of Central Europe and the Balkan Peninsula, as well as monographs on ammonites and other molluscs. Rudolf Maximilan Fenzl (1867-1908) was an Austrian artist and lithographer renowned for his portraits of famous Austrians, including, e.g., the physicist Ludwig Boltzmann, the composer Anton Bruckner, the geologist Eduard Seuss, and Archduke Rainer Ferdinand of Austria. A spotless copy. Rare.
