St. Petersbourg, Académie Impériale des Sciences de St. Pétersbourg, 1873-1883. Four papers in one. 4to. 167 pp. (26; 48; iv, 88, [i]); 14 lithographed plates (1; 4; 9 [numbered I-VII, IIIa and Va; some folded and tinted], a few text engravings. Contemporary polished half calf over marbled boards. Spine with gilt bands and title. Speckled edges.

A complete copy with all four papers (i.e., three and an addition to the first) in three numbered issues, dealing with Silurian invertebrates, viz. extinct ostracod crustaceans, echinoderms, and sea scorpions (crustaceans). Attractively bound, very well-illustrated and with many new taxa. The pagination of each issue starts anew, but it is continuous for the two papers in the third issue. Published in the academy's Mémoires. The author, Friedrich Schmidt (1832-1908) was a Russian palaeontologist. This is all that was published and rare now. Nissen gives an incomplete page numbering. Spine edges a bit rubbed; some light, a few text leaves and plates spotted; some marginal toning, otherwise very good, unmarked. Nissen ZBI, 3723.
