Amsterdam, C. G. Sulpke, 1836. 8vo (22.5 x 13.2 cm). 198 pp.; 30 hand-coloured lithographed plates. Original printed boards.
This excellent, well-illustrated monograph is one of the first books on poisonous plants of the Netherlands and describes over 190 plants with analysis of their toxic properties. As Landwehr (p. 146) points out, this is the only edition and there is no folio edition as reported by Pritzel and Nissen. "Noord-Nederland" should be read as the whole of The Netherlands as it is today. Light dampstain on the bottom of the first few text pages, but not obtrusive and otherwise a very good copy, all plates clean. Rare in the original printed boards in a very good state. Landwehr, 140; Nissen BBI, 6257; Stafleu and Cowan 6088.
