A seldom-seen catalogue, systematically arranged, and with an alphabetical index. Written by the British army captain Jesse Mitchell (1812-1872). The collector's name is added for many species. Several lots may contain type material. The Museum in Chenai (formerly Madras), still exists and is an important centre of natural history studies in southern India. Provenance: stamp of the American malacologist Richard Irwin Johnson (1925-2020) in the top margin of the front free endpaper and title page. A very good copy.
