The frontispiece shows the British surgeon and antiquary, Thomas Joseph Pettigrew (1791-1865), who was the first to write and publish a monograph on mummification. Published as the institute's entire Mémoires, Volume 13. Wrapper's lower and fore edges a bit chipped and with short tears. The work itself, on much better paper, clean, unmarked.
